All levels of experience are welcome. Our dates are Wednesday, Jan. 14, and Wednesday, Feb. 11. About Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit, faith-based organization
working for a world where everyone has a safe and decent place
to live. Its mission is to mobilize volunteers and community
partners in building affordable housing and promoting
homeownership as a means to breaking the cycle of poverty.
Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County, PA, has been
rehabilitating houses for people in need since 1989. They have
completed thirty homes in the past 17 years, sold them to
families at no interest, no profit and housed over 115 people
(more than 80 of them, children) in Montgomery County. The
mortgage payments go into a revolving construction fund used to
pay for the building of future Habitat homes. Habitat for
Humanity of Montgomery County currently builds 4 houses per year
and is looking into opportunities to expand throughout the
county. They raise money only within Montgomery County,
attaining funding through individuals, congregations,
corporations, businesses and private grants.
