Confirmation is a one semester class for adolescent youth that introduces the basics of an adult faith in Jesus Christ and teaches young people what it means to be part of the Body of Christ in the context of the United Methodist denomination.

This is done through a program of study, fellowship, service to others, and small group classes with the Pastor and adult mentors.

Confirmation is the time when young people make a mature statement of faith. In confirmation the young person confirms the promises that they made at their baptism, or were made on their behalf as infants.

It is a step of commitment concluding with reception into full membership. Confirmation takes place to strengthen and support a young person's path into life.

The young person is recognized and supported in religious instruction. It includes an understanding of security in the divine guidance of destiny (Old Testament) as well as becoming aware of the Christ in individual human life (New Testament).

The aim of confirmation is to lead the growing young person to a religious view of the world that is supported by his or her own experience and insight.

The confirmation classes consist of a group of students who join together with the pastor and adult leaders for a semester of exploring who Christ is, what it means to know Him through a life-long relationship, and how we follow Him as United Methodists.

In addition to classroom work, part of the Confirmation activities include volunteering at Methodist Services in Philadelphia as well as visits to local sites of Methodist history.

The Confirmation classes conclude with a ceremony of students publicly declaring their commitment to Christ and desire to become full adult members of our church family.

Confirmation is a step in a life-long journey of pursuing the heights and depths and widths of God's love and making a vow to live in relationship with Him for the rest of our life!
